# Introduction

Read any company's public record from your AI tool, your terminal, or your own code through the application programming interface (API).

Trooth is an infrastructure and cybersecurity company providing Machine-Readable Trust. Each company on the Trooth Network has one public record, and each fact on it carries one of four labels: witnessed, public record, attested or declared.

## Get started

Add Trooth to your AI tool. It is a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at the address below, and it takes no account and no key. Tools with a command-line interface (CLI) add it with one command.

```
https://api.trooth.co/public/mcp
```

[ChatGPT & Codex](https://trooth.co/docs/chatgpt-codex)

Install Trooth Network from the plugin directory. In the Codex CLI:

```bash
codex mcp add trooth --url https://api.trooth.co/public/mcp
```

[Claude & Claude Code](https://trooth.co/docs/claude)

Add a custom connector in Claude. In Claude Code:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http trooth https://api.trooth.co/public/mcp
```

[Cursor](https://trooth.co/docs/cursor)

One install link, or one line in mcp.json.

[VS Code & GitHub Copilot](https://trooth.co/docs/vs-code)

One install link, then ask in chat.

[Gemini & Gemini CLI](https://trooth.co/docs/gemini)

Add a custom app in the Gemini app. In the Gemini CLI:

```bash
gemini mcp add --transport http trooth https://api.trooth.co/public/mcp
```

Another tool that takes a remote MCP server works the same way. [The endpoint, its tools and its limits](https://trooth.co/docs/agents).

## Build directly with the API

Read a company's record with one request. No key, no account.

```bash
curl -s "https://trooth.co/api/network/profile?q=stripe.com&contract=2"
```

Every answer carries found, and a found record carries each fact with its label and date. [How the answer is shaped](https://trooth.co/docs/trust-profile-api).

## Other ways to get started

Install the CLI, or run any command with npx and install nothing:

```bash
npm install -g trooth
```

For AI agents: these docs are plain text at [llms.txt](https://trooth.co/llms.txt) and [llms-full.txt](https://trooth.co/llms-full.txt), and any page is Markdown when you add .md to its address.

## What can Trooth do?

Look up a companyOne request, by domain or Trooth slug, for the whole public record.Read the sections you needSecurity, privacy and the rest, each fact with who said it and when.Check the signatureCheck Trooth's signed witness statement on your own machine.

## Look up a company

Ask by domain or Trooth slug. found says whether a record is published; when it is, the answer is the whole record.

**cURL**

```bash
curl -s "https://trooth.co/api/network/profile?q=stripe.com&contract=2"
```

**Node**

```js
const res = await fetch("https://trooth.co/api/network/profile?q=stripe.com&contract=2");
const record = await res.json();
const name = record.found ? record.name : null;
```

**Python**

```python
import requests
record = requests.get("https://trooth.co/api/network/profile?q=stripe.com&contract=2").json()
if record["found"]:
    print(record["name"], record["domain"])
```

**CLI**

```bash
npx trooth check trooth.co
```

## Read the sections you need

Print only the sections you ask for, or save the whole record as one JSON document.

**CLI**

```bash
npx trooth profile trooth.co --section security,privacy
```

**CLI, JSON**

```bash
npx trooth profile trooth.co --json > profile.json
```

## Check the signature

Check the signature, the key's status and the domain on the witness statement for a reading, with or without a network.

**CLI**

```bash
npx trooth verify trooth.co
```

**CLI, offline**

```bash
trooth verify trooth.co --save-bundle trooth.co.bundle.json
trooth verify --bundle trooth.co.bundle.json
```

## Developer documentation: reference

**Quick start**

Start at Get started on this page: add Trooth to your AI tool, or read one published profile with no key.

**Prerequisites**

None to read the documentation.

**Examples**

The introduction shows one command per AI tool, one request, one CLI command and the three lookups, each linking to the page that explains it. See this section.

**Access and data boundaries**

Four kinds of access, kept apart in the interface catalog. Public reads need no key or account. Subscriptions to a company's changes are public calls that store state and make Trooth send requests later. Private reads of your own workspace need sign-in: an OAuth access token from the authorization server the protected-resource metadata names, with no scope, for a person who has signed in to trooth.co with Continue with enterprise SSO. Browser publication happens only in the signed-in editor, for the company's own profile.

**Uncertainty in answers**

Not applicable. The index returns no data; each surface page shows its own response examples.

**Versions**

Each page names its version: REST contract, MCP revision, CLI package or badge release.

**Errors**

Not applicable. The index makes no request.

**Checking the result**

Not applicable. The index makes no request.

**Revocation and removal**

Not applicable. The index grants nothing that could be revoked.

**How the examples are held**

Illustrative. The introduction's examples are short copies of the ones on the Quickstart, API, CLI and AI tool pages, labeled illustrative here; each of those pages states how its own are held.

### Troubleshooting

- **A page here disagrees with what an endpoint returns.** Trust the response and report the page via Contact; /openapi.json is the contract.
