# Prepare for a job change

Your Trooth account is yours, and your company's workspace is the company's. Before you leave a job, move what is yours onto your own account and hand over what belongs to the company.

## Make a personal address your primary email

1. Add an address you will keep after you leave, and confirm it from the email Trooth sends. [Settings, Emails](https://trooth.co/dashboard/settings/emails)
2. Make it Primary, so sign-in links, security notices and digests reach you there.
3. Remove your work address once you no longer use it.

## Move two-factor authentication off company devices

1. Add a passkey or an authenticator app on a device you keep. [Settings, Password and authentication](https://trooth.co/dashboard/settings/security)
2. Remove the methods on company devices and security keys.
3. Download new recovery codes and store them somewhere you will still have.

## If you are an owner, appoint another owner first

On People, choose another member and Change role to Owner, so the company keeps someone who can manage its workspace and its Trust Profile. Two owners is the safe number. [People](https://trooth.co/dashboard/team)

The person who created the workspace is always its owner and cannot leave it, because the Trust Profile is held by their account.

## Hand over what belongs to the company

- Tell an owner which API keys, agent keys and webhooks you set up, so they can rotate the keys you knew.
- Pass on questionnaires, document requests and threads you are answering.
- Leave the Trust Profile's facts as they are: they belong to the company, and its history keeps who changed what.

## Leave the workspace

On Settings, Organizations, choose Leave. Your access to the workspace ends at once; your own account, profile and sign-in stay yours. [Settings, Organizations](https://trooth.co/dashboard/settings/organizations)

An owner can invite you back within three months with the role you had.

## If your company removed you

You keep your account. You were told by email, and every session you had in the workspace was signed out. An owner can reinstate you within three months with the role you had; after that, they invite you as a new member.
