The continuity document now covers founder continuity, with a designated Continuity Contact, and sets out what Trooth commits to if the service is ever transferred or discontinued, including at least 90 days' notice.
What changed
The Business Continuity document is now titled Business Continuity, Succession and Service Transition. A new section on founder continuity names the arrangements that keep the service from depending on one person: a designated Continuity Contact other than the founder, sealed instructions and emergency access used only when the section applies, accounts held for the company, and a written operating runbook. If the founder cannot operate the service for more than 14 consecutive days, the Continuity Contact keeps it running and its accounts renewed, tells users within 7 days, preserves every record unchanged and handles export and deletion requests. If Trooth ever discontinues the service, account holders get at least 90 days' notice, the service stays available and exportable throughout, export remains available on request for 30 days after, data is deleted on the Retention Policy's schedule, and the public signing keys are published somewhere independent of the service so earlier witness statements can still be checked. If the service or the company is transferred, account holders are told 30 days before any data moves and can export and delete first, and the new operator must honor the Terms, the Privacy Policy and this document. The About page now describes these arrangements.
Why it changed
Trooth is operated by its founder, and a buyer relying on it should be able to read what happens if the founder is unavailable, and what happens to their data if the service is ever sold or stopped. The document described availability and incidents but not those.
